Woven words

I have no idea where I found Gail of Can't Stop Making Things - But I am sure glad I did! (the joy of bloghopping)

I know her Paper Weave has been a REALLY popular item, and of course I had to try it, but I did manage to put my own little spin on things.

I wanted mine to say something - not knowing of course how very much more difficult this was going to make my task.  So I made two signs that said Love with a stencil - One Black and One White.

Then I painted each one - cuz, well - paintings my thing. I used 3 colors on each one.

Needless to say there was some touching up required:

I also don't have a paper shredder - I cut each strip by hand with my exacto knife.  I imagine with it having to be in a certain order the shredder may not have worked out quite as well anyway :)
As usual I didn't go back and read the instructions -
so I missed that very handy tip about the double sided tape.

Taped them all up at the top - and started to weave....
I also didn't pay attention to how casually Gail's was woven -
Adding the words meant it had to be super (and i mean super) tightly woven.
I even had to slice off a bit  of a couple of stripe to make the words jive.

So - even though I apparently like to complicate otherwise really awesome simple crafts, I am pretty happy with the result - and it's a bit more original that just totally stealing Gail's idea.

She's also got a bunch of other fantastic ideas so go check her out!

And now.... my second link party!  Go Me!
